Strabismus, also called cruciate eye, means the loss of parallel alignment in the eye. There are internal and external bad escorts along with those up and down. Strabismus is broadly classified into two groups; secondary to ocular muscle paralysis and secondary. If strabismus is not secondary to paralysis, the subcategories are congenital strabismus and others.
Amblyopia – “Lazy Eye”
If lazy eye is detected, vision should be assisted with glasses, if required. The department prescribes eye patches and orthopedic therapy along with glasses.
Refractive error – This includes nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It is more likely to cause amblyopia if the error is greater in one eye.
Cataracts – These cause redness in the lens of the eye. Cataracts in children are rare.
Why is the Retina Important?
Your retina is an essential part of your vision as it is responsible for converting light rays into images through signals to the brain. When there is a problem with your retina due to eye disease, ocular trauma or other conditions, you risk causing long-term damage to your vision.
What are retinal diseases?
Retinal nerve cells or their nutrient vessels can be damaged. The causes of these disorders can vary according to the age of the person.
What are the symptoms of retinal diseases?
The person should test the visual acuity of near and far vision separately for each eye. Binocular vision can cause late recognition of poorly closed vision in one eye.
This simple self-examination is done as follows; select an object or a distance and close one eye on each rating to determine the visual acuity of the two eyes separately.
If one of the following symptoms is recognized by looking near or far, a retinal disease should be suspected and medical attention sought.
- Blurred vision,
- Blurred / dark central area of the visual field.
- Blurred, blurred or blurred vision in any part of the visual field while looking somewhere.
- Inability to distinguish color tones or difference between two eyes.
- Straight lines, rows (as you read) and window and door borders look wavy and distorted.
- Seeing flashing lights in the dark, Floating Dots, threads or other shapes that suddenly appear in sight.
